MATT GUSCHL
Oboe
Matt Guschl is an oboist and teacher based in the Rockford, IL area. He currently serves as principal oboist for the Rockford Wind Ensemble and in the Rockford Wind Quintet. He earned his doctorate in Oboe Performance from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and his Master’s and Bachelor’s Degrees from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Matt has performed as a featured soloist with the Rock Valley College Orchestra, the Rockford Concert Band, and the Freeport Concert Band and has performed in recital at the Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center. Previously, Matt was a member of the Las Vegas Wind Quintet and the English hornist for the Henderson Symphony in Henderson, NV. He has also performed with the Las Vegas Philharmonic, the Las Vegas Sinfonietta, the Rockford Symphony Orchestra, and the Beloit-Janesville Symphony.
Matt has over 15 years of experience teaching students of all ages and abilities, including beginners, college music majors, and adult amateurs who want to hone their skills. His primary goal as a teacher is to develop students who can perform confidently as a soloist or as a member of an ensemble. Lessons will focus on practice techniques, the physical aspects of playing the oboe, and developing the student’s musical voice.
